LOOK WHAT WE'VE WON!!!!!

SCHOOLS RECYCLING COMPETITION

The Mander Centre asked several local Primary Schools to take part in a recycling competition to be held during June and July and several schools contacted them and agreed to take part. There was also the chance of winning 12 lovely new shiny bikes which was a little reward for those who decided to enter the competition. Wolverhampton Council very kindly delivered the collection bins, one for plastic and the other for cans and then the collecting started.  Pupils were deligated to collect the recycling at the school gates and both children and parents were encouraged to think of the planet and 'do their bit for the enviroment'.  Each time the school had 4 full bags of recycling they would contact the Mander Centre, who would collect and weighed them and at the end of the 5 weeks the school with the most recycling would win. The final weigh-in took part on Friday 16th July and the winning school was WOOD END PRIMARY SCHOOL in Wednesfield.  They managed to collect a staggering 162.4kg with FALLING PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL in Low Hill collecting 49.98kg. On Thursday 22nd July, Wood End School were presented with their new bikes from Kevin Gwilliam, Mander Centre Manager, Katie Fellowes, Centre Administrator and Jennifer Wills from Wolverhampton Council.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO TOOK PART.
